Battery Monitor System

Working in conjunction with Boulder Labs, Dan and John helped to produce an affordable real-time monitoring system capable of reading voltages of individual battery cells within large battery packs.  The system communicated with computers over bluetooth, allowing the battery array to the located in an adjacent building for a solar power installation. This system is particularly needed in systems with lithium chemistry based batteries, which can be severely damaged if they are unbalanced, or over charged or discharged.  Applications for this monitoring system range from solar and wind generated power storage to enabling rapid charging and safe discharging of batteries in electronic devices.  Such devices are consumer electronics or larger scale systems such as electric vehicles.
